Darn it

Well, the inevitable happened. Carter's sternum infection returned. Today after church his red infection area was 3" wide and growing since Friday and he was up to 100' for a temp. Kristi called cardiology and they asked if she could bring him to PCMC. She did and his doctor from the first infection visit came in as well as Carter's heart surgeon, Dr. Burch. He took a look and they've scheduled Carter's surgery for tomorrow! He's the 2nd one up. Dr. Burch indicated that he would remove the wire causing the infection and if he can remove any other nearby wire while he is at it, he will. The wires were used to help his ribcage heal after his August heart surgery. They are unnecessary now. Normally, the wires just hang around in the body to give the airport people fits.

Carter will stay for at least 24 hours before he comes home. Oh well, it's part of life around here. If a medical person has an "ist" after their specialty, it's someone we likely have to visit with. You know; cardiologist, speech therapist, physical therapist, you get the idea....

We'll post an update tomorrow...

bless that sweet boy. I'm sure that the ist also means more money, at least it does when you play operation. Good luck. Your family is in my prayers.
